Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before booking your Athens walking tour.
How difficult are these walks?
Not super difficult, but not easy either. The two shorter tours (Sunrise Hike and Conquer Lycabettus) cover 4.4km with 220m elevation. The Ultimate Athens Hills Climb is 7.5km with 300m elevation across two hills. A good level of fitness is essential.
What do I need to bring?
Comfortable walking shoes and water are the two essentials. In summer, add a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Good news: Athens tap water is safe to drink, so bring a refillable bottle.
Do you run all year round?
Yes, every month of the year.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain: tour proceeds as normal. Heavy rain or storms: we reschedule or offer a full refund. Check your email 2 hours before the tour for any weather updates.
What if I'm not a morning person?
The sunrise is worth it. Coffee helps. Adrenaline helps more. The moment you see Athens light up below you, you'll forget you were ever tired.
Can I do both the Hills Climb and the Sunrise Hike?
Yes, recommended if you have 4+ days in Athens. The Hills Climb and Sunrise Hike are very different experiences. Many people do both.
Will I actually see the sunrise?
Athens has 300+ sunny days per year, so odds are excellent. Even cloudy sunrises can be dramatic and beautiful. We've never had someone regret the tour because of clouds.
I want to join but I'm worried I can't keep up. What should I do?
Consider booking a private tour (subject to availability). George can adjust the pace specifically for you. Get in touch to discuss options.
How hot does it get in summer?
Temperatures can reach 40°C. Morning sessions start early and afternoon sessions start as late as possible to manage the heat.
